Inciardi Dance Company brought down the house at the Synergy Dance Competition!

The Inciardi Dancers, named in honor of Suzanne Kem in recognition of her original dance studio before Bill Kem joined her to become Kem's Gym and Dance, took 6 dances to the stage March 8-10 in Wichita, KS.

Soloists:

  1. Emmie Harnden- Character Jazz Teen Level II (Bloody Mary)

  2. Scarlette Cassens- Contemporary Junior Level I (Warrior)

Both girls grew their performances from our last competition, making improvements and building confidence.

Awards: They both received HIGH GOLD!

Duo/Trios:

  1. Texas Bound: Tap Junior Level I (Madelyn Love, Jaycee Williams, Tanna Harron)

This group performed for their first competition and got the crowd clapping with their country-style tap.

Awards: Platinum and 7th Overall for Junior Duo/Trios

  2. Sway With Me: Jazz Junior Level I (Rylan Paul, Easton Pedersen)

This sassy duo grabbed the judge's attention almost immediately, as they waved the white flag in approval upon the duo's first cha-cha.

Awards: Synergy Shine (highest recognition at this competition) and 1st Overall for Junior Duo/Trios

Group Dances:

  1. Here Come the Geeks: Large Group Junior Level II, (Layla Almack, Cambree Cooper, Avery Sattre, Rylan Paul, Easton Pedersen, Scarlette Cassens, Riah Shepherd, Ruthann Fisher, Madelyn Love, Jaycee Williams, Tanna Hearon, Ava O'niel, Emmie Harnden, Aiden Gaston, and Brylen Liberton)

The Geeks was once again received with high praise with our fun and funny hiphop moves, as it was two weeks prior at our last competition (where it won 1st Over-All and Judge's Award)!

Awards: Synergy Shine, 1st Overall for Junior Groups, and Judges Choice Award

  2. In the Library: Small Group Teen Level II, (Aiden Gaston, Ruthann Fisher, Emmie Harnden, Ava O'neil and Madelyn Love)

This dance performed for the first time ever, having just pulled the dance together a couple weeks prior, and they took the stage by storm! This theatrical, a capella tap dance was letter together! The entire audience cheered and the Judges gave them a standing ovation!! Cara was blown away with gratitude at how hard the dancers worked to pull it together, their dedication to the characters they developed as a group, and how well her concept piece was received.

Awards: Synergy Shine, 1st Overall for Teen Groups, High Point of the Night, and Choreography Award

Saturday evening, before they handed out group awards, Synergy hosted a Dance-Off for Charity of which 3 of our brave dancers competed: Tanna Hearon, Aiden Gaston and Cara Kem Cassens' son, Clint (5). This dance-off was open to ANY age and skill level. They played a random song, from hiphop to a ballad to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. They had no idea what they'd get before the music came on and dancers had to improvise their routines. They had several groups and narrowed them down to 2 dancers per group, who then proceeded to the finals.

Unfortunately, all 3 of our dancers were in the same preliminary group and only 2 could proceed to the finals. This is really a shame, because Tanna "worked"! She is so much fun to watch break it down! On a bright note, in our group, both Clint and Aiden were picked for the finals!

In the final round, several dancers worked their best tricks, but we think the judges were more interested in those who were less concerned with getting noticed and just enjoyed dancing. And guess who won? BOTH AIDEN AND CLINT! Upon receiving his trophy, Clint said "I'm an expert now!"

Congratulations to our dancers who shared with us their joy. Your love for dance is obvious in all you do!
